Geocache Description:

Geocaching.com is proud to announce Mr. Incredible!'s 60th Cache!

Mr. Incredible!'s
Rock Garden Party

The above coordinates will take you to an earthcache site located in front of  Science Central , Indiana's Center for Science,  Mathematics, and Technology in Fort Wayne.

Inside, there are many cool science exhibits that are great learning fun for kids of all ages!  (The multi-colored smoke stacks make the old City Light & Power, Power Plant really unique!)

Outside
Science Central, there is a nice little spiral rock garden...  (a perfect place for an earthcache!)

All kinds of rocks are here; igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic.  You are interested in the rock in the center of the spiral.  This is the rock you will need to identify.

Metamorphic Rocks

Follow the steps below to figure out

what kind of rock it is.

1. a. Rock has visible layers - go to #2

b. Rock does not have visible layers - go to #3

2. a. Rock has dull luster (The rock is SLATE)

b. Rock has visible minerals - go to #4

3. a. Rock has granular appearance (The rock is QUARTZITE)

b. Rock has a shiny crystalline luster (The rock is MARBLE)

4. a. Rock has thick, dark bands alternating between lighter colored rock (The rock is GNEISS)

b. Rock has many flakes of platy minerals all pointing in the same direction (The rock is SCHIST)

To log this cache you must post a photo of you and your GPSr with the Science Central (but NOT the dinosaur!) in the background; AND provide this information:

1.  Give either the rock's height, diameter, or circumference.
2.  What kind of rock is in the center of the spiral?
3.  What dinosaur is located east of the rock garden?

Please email me the answers - DO NOT post these answers with your log!

BRING A CAMERA & A TAPE MEASURE!
