Geocache Description:

An intriguing hidey hole.

The Monk's cave isn't really a cave - it's a shelter built onto the side of a cliff. The story goes that monks wishing to travel to the monastry on Inchcolm would shelter there whilst they waited for their ferry. To signal their presence they would leave a lantern in a small window.

Getting to this cache used to be a little bit tricky but i am told by a "reliable source" that the wee car park is now finished. There is a wee track leading from the carpark making the walk much easierr than it was. Another way would be to join Aberdour Golf Club, the cache is near to the tee for hole 9 (if you have a boat that is probably easy too).

Please be careful following your GPS as there are cliffs nearby, keep hold of little ones.

The cache is not inside the cave.

Once you have found the cache please go into the cave and imagine life before cars and bridges. Afterwards there are some WW2 buildings to the NW to explore (watch out for broken glass).
