Geocache Description:

Waubaushene Beaches Nature Reserve is located in the village of Waubaushene. It is locally known as Webb’s Hill. There is a fresh water spring at the entrance to the park if you want to fill your water bottles! If you arrive in the winter, bring your toboggan for the ride of your life!
Waubaushene Beaches Nature Reserve is important because it contains an important sequence of historic shorelines marking the progress of the retreating ancient Lake Algonquin. At least four post-glacial lakes left their mark on the landscape.
In order to log this find, please email, via my profile, the elevations of the 5 levels in the park, and the distance travelled from the parking co-ordinates to the highest elevation.
1. Mark the elevation at the parking co-ordinates, at the entrance to the park. This is called the Lake Waubaushene Stage beach.
2. As you pass the fresh water spring and enter the park, walk about halfway to the hill and mark another elevation. This is called the Lake Nipissing shorecliff, beach and offshore sandbars.
3. Start climbing the hill to the 3rd level and mark the elevation. This is called a Lake Payette bluff and beach.
4. Continue climbing to the 4th level and mark the elevation. This lake is unnamed.
5. Go to the top and mark the 5th and final elevation. This is called the Cedar Point Lake Stage terrace and beach.
6. Now enjoy the view!! From this vantage point you can just imagine the grandeur of ancient Lake Algonquin.

Note: Permission has been granted to use existing trails, only. Many people use this park, and many people leave their mark. Please CITO (Cache In, Trash Out) and maybe together we can make a difference. Thanks.
