Geocache Description:

The container is now a plastic vial in the tree. Please log in with initials only.

The original building at this site was a hotel and one of the permanent tenants was a guy the locals called "Pothead Sam" because of his well-known recreational activities. Apparently Sam was careless one night and the hotel burnt to the ground and took about half the town with it. Sam left Caliente very soon afterwards. (1922) The depot was erected at this site rather than another hotel.
