Enjoy the Galena River Trail.
The Galena River Trail begins in beautiful Galena and follows the Galena River to Galena Junction, the intersection of the active Burlington/Santa Fe railroad, the Mississippi River and the Galena River. This cache was placed to encourage you to experience the trail by foot or bike. The parking lot and trail head are located below the Highway US 20 bridge in Galena. Cross the tracks at the Train Depot. Please observe parking regulations and trail rules listed at the trail head. The trail is hard packed crushed rock on a former railroad right of way. I would suggest tracking this cache by bike unless you are prepared for a 7 mile hike. The cache is at the base of a rocky hill so your gps will move around a lot. To find the cache you should move around too. Please note that the trail is bordered by private property approximately 50 feet from the center line on both sides. Please respect private property and trespass laws. Enjoy.
