New description, 4/13: We had problems twice with mugglers, so have rehidden this cache. It's no longer right on the trail, and you'll have to slog uphill through some slightly thorny terrain to find it. When we first hid it, our son Ben would have been 3, and we wanted kids his age to be able to find it. Now, he'd be 9 - and definitely able to handle this find!
Our family, including two sets of grandparents, placed this cache on Mother's Day 2007 in memory of our three-year old son, Benjamin, lost to cancer three months previously. The cache is (was - see new description above) intended to be kid-friendly, easily accessible to toddlers and preschoolers. It is filled with some of Ben's favorite types of small toys, intended to entertain little geotykes, and probably even fun for school-aged geocachers. The cache itself as originally a white plastic container decorated with bug stickers, but has been updated to a green ammo box (darn mugglers).
Don't forget to take in the view at 5000 ft of grass-covered hilly terrain, manzanita and yucca scrub, and huge expanses of blue sky as you hike this trail, or just stop off on the way to higher elevations and cooler temperatures.
