Geocache Description:

The cabin that used to stand here was built in 1923 and jointly owned by the Eascoms, Meads, and Schafers. The logs to build it were "snaked down" from the mountains behind the cabin with a team, and "peeling" them was a job for the women and children. Mr Mead built the fireplace from stones gathered by everyone. The cabin had no electricity or running water (unless you count the stream out front!).

While the families had a 99-year lease for use of the land, they eventually decided to give it back in 1955, when it was turned into a picnic ground. The cabin was dismantled and the materials used by the forest service.

There was a bridge across the river to the cabin site, which used to be much bigger, but the 2013 flood wiped it out. The picnic area is mostly gone and the entire area scoured back to almost nothing. Someone added a picnic table and threw a log across the water, but it's nothing like it was. Mr Mead sure built a tough fireplace though!

Since this area is quite rocky, your GPS will probably have a tough time finding anything -- mine sure does! -- so I've added a spoiler photo to help you out.
