This cache is (somewhere!) in the expansive Shonan Village area
with a tiny outdoor pipe museum/display nearby. It is a cute
tupperware-like container contain shells and (hurry if it lasts) a
genuine Mao pin from a Hong Kong junk shop.
Parking abounds near this cache and the bus brings you very close.
There is plenty of exploring, walking or treking to be done in this
area if desired. You can spend hours looking around the immediate
Village area checking out architecture, design of the hotel,
convention center, park, view restaurant and adjacent residential
area and walkways. There seems to be a swap meet on the weekends
with many interesting vendors, items and antiques....maybe one can
buy some great future cache containers like the antique carved
tombo/dragonfly snuffbox my friend spotted before I did! (Swapmeet
is in grocery store parking lot.) ACCESS: ***By BUS: No. 16/"Shonan
Village"(from JR Zushi Station or Keikyu Shin-Zushi Station leaves
from bus stop #1 & takes 30 minutes; (from Keikyu Shioiri
Station leaves from bus stop # 2 , takes 34 minutes) ***By CAR:
Leave the Yokohama-Yokosuka Doro highway (Yoko-Yoko Doro) at the
Yokosuka interchange, and turn right towards Hayama. Turn left at
signed “Shonan Village Ent." traffic signals. Turn left again at
'Shonan Village Center Entrance". Shonan Village Center is the
semi-circular brown building at the top of the long, ; winding
road. ***By TAXI: from Yokosuka costs about 2000 yen. Note: when
the public restaurant and museum near the cache is closed , there
is a gate across the parking lot with a sign that probably is "wase
ego" (which means 'English made in Japan'). It uses the phrase "no
terrorists" but I believe it means "no vandals". When we set the
cache we actually entered in the back via a trail from the
Convention Center but you can certainly walk through the gate which
is probably used to indicate that the restaurant and museum display
is closed and to keep cars from needlessly driving up the hill.
