Geocache Description:

Mangroves grow in areas that are frequently inundated with salt water due to tidal activity of gulfs and oceans. Mangroves are able to thrive in salt water inundation because of specialized rooting structures (such as prop roots and pneumatophores).

When anidanid was first contacted about moving the Dog Needed Some Love cache, Ranger Marcie suggested we place a cache in this area. We put one out here a while ago and never submitted it. So here it is now. Could be wet or dry when you try this cache, .27 miles from parking. This cache is very near a good spot for sheephead fishing, as well as others. The path is the original tram to the outer part of Lovers Key. There is an old osprey nest and lots of other neat things to see on the way out. The sounds of the fiddler crabs scurrying at low tide is cool. Please replace the log as you found it in the container so it is easy for the next finder. Thanks
