These were the Happy Days for the business that once occupied the six-story building nearby. LDDS Communications of Brookhaven moved here and took a new name. At this location, WorldCom planned a beautiful new headquarters in Clinton, began constructing a highly profitable internet backbone for New York and LA (Los Angles, not Lower Alabama), acquired MCI and Skytel, and began preparations to acquire Sprint. Bernie Ebbers spearheaded a 100 million dollar campaign that transformed the Mississippi College campus in Clinton into one of the most beautiful campuses in the state. As the striking new Corporate Headquarters neared completion on I-20, it looked like nothing could hold back Mississippi’s hottest business. It was the best of times. But federal regulators would block the acquisition of Sprint at the last minute and the "Mississippi Delta Blues” set in. Oh, oh, oh, where did they go? Those Happy Days!
