Geocache Description:

This multi-geocache explores the outdoor grounds of the Algonquin Highlands Heritage Museum in three stages. The geocache is a standard PB jar, suitably camouflaged and identified. It contains the usual swag, and log book.

Stage One: The original Stanhope Council Chambers is now one of two Heritage Museums within the Township of Algonquin Highlands (the other is located at Dorset, 33 km. north of this site). The Stanhope Museum is open during the warmer months, and includes a scale model of the famous Hawk Lake Log Chute (see GCHTTV). However, these cache questions are answered by examining the nearby Pioneer Gardens.
1. In what year were ‘Webb’s Pedigree Seeds’ advertised to the pioneers?
2. In what year was the ‘Canadian Settler’s Guide’ first available?
3. In what year was the original Stanhope Council Chamber first used?
4. In what year was the First Stage of the Pioneer Garden initiated?
5. In what year was the Fourth stage (the Vegetable Garden) initiated?

Total the above four-digit answers and divide by the number of finials surrounding the garden. Add your rounded answer to the last three digits of N 45 03.903 to obtain the latitude for Stage Three.

Stage Two: At N 45 04.504; W078 42.841; Find a two-digit answer to each of these questions:
1. What Station is this?
2. When did the Zion Church burn?
3. How many spokes on each wheel of the extinguisher?
4. What is the sum of the five digits in #3’s serial number?

Total the two-digit numbers obtained in stage two and add your answer to the final three digits of W078 42.718 to obtain the longitude for Stage Three.

Stage Three: At this location the co-ordinates for the cache are displayed at the 'most NE post'. Park at the end of the pavement at the suggested parking co-ordinates, and follow the trail to the cache. There is no need to stray onto any private property!
