Follow The Yellow Brick Road Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

klizich: Finally got out to archive a bunch of mine that are in areas I don't have time to get to often (not to mention getting older).
I have started to think "quality" rather than "quantity" about my caches. May have a few new ones come out in the future, but they will be in locations easier to maintain.
I will say "thank you" to the staff of the park who have always been geocaching friendly.
This one had a great 9 year run, thanks to all who visited.

Geocache Description:

A well-stocked .30 caliber ammo box (repainted/marked as geocache)
hidden off a trail within Wawayanda State Park.

This cache is a short bushwhack off of a marked/named trail in Wawayanda State Park; not listing it by name will add slightly to the difficulty, provide a better, more-enjoyable experience and test your caching skills. None of these areas require park access through the main gate or will be subject to entry fees assessed during the Memorial Day-Labor Day period. Maps from the park and/or NY-NJ Trail Conference will be helpful. There are several different approaches possible as the cache trail intersects with several others. This cache is hidden in a very nice area, on an almost level trail (old fire road???). To access the cache, an item/items must be moved; a small portion of the cache should be visible without movement.

Please replace the cache as found (brighter side up).

Satellite reception in the area is good and readings taken were very accurate; please be aware this may change slightly due to foliage (or lack thereof), satellite position, time of day, weather, etc. Still, finding it should not be a problem. There are other caches in the area as well; plan well and you should pick up a bunch of smilies on your visit!

Wawayanda State Park is home to numerous varieties of wildlife. Black bear, coyote, bobcat, beaver and snakes - both venomous and non-venomous - live here. Having an encounter is certainly a possibility. Please make yourself aware of what to do should you have an encounter...so you may enjoy the experience and not fear it. Take the proper precautions!

*** TICKS CAPABLE OF CARRYING LYME DISEASE ARE SOMETIMES PRESENT YEAR-ROUND! ***
Please check yourself and others frequently; use of repellent is suggested.

Wawayanda State Park allows hunting in season. During hunting season, please be sure to:
play it safe and wear fluorescent hunter orange attire when caching.
To be completely safe, cache on Sundays when NJ does not allow any hunting.

Enjoy.
