HALF WAY...... Traditional Cache
wy82331: After the log cutting the signs were destroyed, trees lying all over, quite a different spot, am archiving this cache.

From here to there; half way. In the early years of the railroad there was a huge demand for ties. Many a man earned his pay cutting and " hacking" ties. Once spring opened the streams and rivers they were floated down the Platte river to an area close to the railroad.
Located between Encampment, Wyoming and Hogpark was an " Inn" of sorts. A place where a person traveling from Encampment to the main headquarters of the tie camp at Hogpark could find a good meal and a drink. About " Half Way."
Today Hogpark has a nice lake ideal for boats and camping and of course trout fishing. Close by is the trailhead of the Encampment River Trail, a 17 mile long trail that ends at Encampment. The road, a well maintained gravel road, is part of the Sierra Madre Senic drive.
The trip , to the cache, as well as further is a beautiful drive. The elevation at the cache is 8988 feet.
The cache is a ammo can.

Ive geocached in Wyo. pin,
Wyoming key chain,
and four rookie baseball cards.
Logbook, pen and geocaching instructions.
