A walk in the heart of the Moor.
The term "Bodmin Moor" was invented in 1813 by the Ordnance Survey who were mapping the area at the time. The original local name was "Fowey Moor", named after the river that rises here (in the same way as Dartmoor & Exmoor). Much of the open moor is now "Right to Roam" public access land so there are many possible routes to this cache. However the presence of livestock fences may require detours to find gates or stiles. The simplest routes are either from the south via Tolborough Tor & Catshole Tor (keeping right of the fence line) or from Brown Willy - following the path that drops down east from the ridge to a gate. Please consult the latest edition of O.S. map "Explorer no.109". The cache is a 1 litre plastic box, with a smaller box inside to help keep the log dry. It's hidden in an unnamed rocky outcrop about 1km. east of Brown Willy. Enjoy your walk! ..
