Geocache Description:

A quick drive-by on an unsealed road, best done in the dry weather.

The golden church spire you can see in the distance belongs to the Point Pass Immanuel Lutheran Church. The original tower was added to the existing building in 1913. It measured 85 feet high.

In 1929 the cross on the spire was blown over in a strong wind, and was left hanging down. A local gymnast climbed the interior wooden frame-work of the spire and stood on a wooden platform through an opening in the top to put it back in place. This dangerous task took him and several men from the congregation 1 ½ days to complete.

This tower was re-roofed in 1972, and the new spire is steel-framed clad with gold-coloured anodised aluminium.
