Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a four microcache series centred around Culham Lock on the River Thames in South Oxfordshire.

Culham Lock is the second deepest lock on the Thames (excluding Teddington) with a rise of 2.41 metres only 0.28 metres shorter than that of Sandford Lock. The Domesday Book in the eleventh century recorded a mill on the Thames at nearby Sutton Courtenay. In those days it was difficult to negotiate the flash lock or weir by boat due to the shallows. It was also unpopular with river user because of the very high tolls charged here. Eventually, in 1809, a new deeper Culham Cut – and a pound lock - were excavated and both were welcomed by all those who used them. This arrangement is still present today.

You are looking for a 35mm film canister which contains a log book and pencil.
