Near Glen Rose, rocky terrain, beautiful vistas
DAGMAR S/N 003 -- Blessed Solitude says it all. You probably won't
find many other people out this far, though I have seen a few.
Nevertheless, the scenery is likely to be some of the best you'll
see in the North Texas area, especially if you like
borderline-desert terrain. I try to make this hike at least once a
week, even in the heat. A few tips: Get an EARLY start to beat the
heat, or start later in the day, say 4 or even 5 p.m. (but bring a
flashlight in case your GPS goes down and you get lost). It could
be a real challenge in the summertime. Take plenty of water and
wear a good pair of broken-in hiking boots and wool hiking socks
(available at outdoor stores). Blisters will be painful on the
trail, so wear good foot gear to avoid them, and know how to treat
them if they do develop. Did I say to take lots of water? Also
sunglasses, bandanna, sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat. I highly
recommend a hiking stick or staff to keep your balance if you carry
a daypack. Three legs are better than two in this terrain. Please

toy firetruck, glo-stick, Russian coin, book, cassette, CD,
baseball card, camera to take your picture, and other toys and neat
stuff. This one is well hidden below dead branches and within rough
brush. Look carefully or you may never see it.
