Latest update for the event...             July 14 2007

We want to thank everyone who came to this event, it was truly a joint effort, from the planning, to the attendance, to working the tables, the donations, food, the drawings, the list just does not stop... but it took everyone that was there to make it all happen.... so we send our THANKS TO YOU ALL... it would not have been the same had even one of you had stayed home.

We have Calkan to thank for all of our statistics this year as he reported in his July 11th cache note:

Here is the official/unofficial attendance number for the 2007 Lewis & Clark Festival Geocaching Event. "72"

These towns and states were represented. Great Falls, Shelby, Missoula, Sidney, Helena, Billings, Butte, Coeur D'Alene/ Idaho, Houston/Texas, Spokane/Washington, and Utah.

We as a Geocaching Event were able to raise $150 dollars to donate to the Great Falls Lewis & Clark Foundation. This was pretty exciting for the Foundation. Gordon Heikens (K&G Seekers) won the 50/50 raffle and took home $60.00 for all his hard work. Calvin & Peggy Kanning (calkan & quiltnut) won 1st and 2nd in the Lewis & Clark travel bug contest.

76 Travel Bugs were brought to the event and all were checked in and out! Great Job! Please remember to "grab" your travel bug from the event so that we may close out the web page. Thanks

And Thanks Again to all of you....... Hope to see you all again soon.....

The Lewis and Clark Festival Geocaching Event

All Geocachers have been invited to a potluck event at Giant Springs State Park. The event will be at the park above the springs. We also have a great opportunity to set up and staff a Geocaching table at the lower park in conjunction with the 18th Annual Lewis & Clark Festival. Fish, Wildlife and Parks would like our assistance in helping to introduce our sport to others during this event. This is a great chance for us to get together for a visit, share geocaching stories, and have a potluck lunch. There will be drawings (we already have some items donated, a 50/50, and a chance to tell others about Geocaching. What a great day this can and will be as long as you are there. And what an awesome opportunity to make this an annual event!

The 8th Annual Lewis & Clark Festival Geocaching Tables

There will be a few new caches going active for this event for veteran cachers. A special non-active cache will be available to teach the people interested in learning about Geocaching. We can assist people who are interested in our sport how to find this special cache. The park service is providing us a lean-to, tables, and loaner GPS receivers for the event. The event is scheduled to last from 10:00AM to 5:00PM, and yes we are looking for people to staff the tables. At this time, we plan on having several modern cache containers which can be compared to the Lewis and Clark cache containers. We will have Geocaching brochures and flip charts of Geocaching.com, showing how to find and log a cache.

Chicken... Chicken... Chicken...

We will have Chicken again this year, as the main dish, you just need you to sign-up as soon as possible so we have a good idea of how much to order. We are getting excited, hope you are.

Pretty cool...
But no longer allowed...
DRAWINGS...50/50
We will have a 50/50 for anyone wanting to try their luck, all proceeds will go to the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center.

Looking for donations for other drawings, Big R has given again this year. If you have any ideas drop me a email. Again all proceeds will go to the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center.

We have received some nice donations from the Portage Cache Store located at the Interpretive Center, all related to Lewis and Clark. Pretty cool... We are going to use them in the drawings and as prizes.

HOT... HOT... HOT...

We are looking for geocachers to work the tables at the festival. It would be nice if no one had to work it more then a few hours. At this time we plan on having several caches out for display,  brochures to hand out, and we hope to have some GPS's set up and ready for people to try their first cache. In general we will just be answering questions and recruiting new cachers, sounds like fun to me. I know that the Big Sky Explorers are planning on working it, Calkan and his wife, my wife and I plan on taking a turn. So who else wants to join in on the fun? We will also have the Travel Bug contest set up at these tables... I know of at least four entries, If you plan on entering let us know...
