Joshua Jason Carmichael was born in a small Victorian Town in 1965.
His parents owned a farm, TV coverage was non-existent and the
radio was king. He grew up on The Beatles, Jo'K, and Elvis. Any
money he earned went into his record collection. He ran played the
music for the Grade 6 dance and from that day, he wanted no other
job. He built up a mobile DJ set and by 14 was running the music at
all the local weddings, parties and dances. The local radio station
grew quite fond of Joshua and by age 16, was running the Saturday
Night Show, a mix of all the latest modern music for the local
teens. By 18, he was running prime-time and by 19 a Melbourne
talent scout had offered him a job in the city.
Although his full name was fine in the country, it was too
cumbersome for the city and the station manager encouraged him to
try something shorter. He dropped the Carmichael and most of his
first name and from that day, he went by the catchy "J Jason". From
humble beginnings, he has grown to be one of the most respected and
sought after music authorities in the country. He is well known to
both local and international artists and they all make sure that a
visit to the studio for a chat is the number one priority whenever
the are in Melbourne.
Take 2007 for example. Just check out these excerpts from his
diary for an insight into the life of J Jason. And if you look
really closely, you may just find enough information to give you
the co-ordinates of a geocache...
