Geocache Description:

The search for this cache takes you into the heart of an old mining operation. Beneath the mountain upon which you are hiking exists a vast network of interconnected tunnels and shafts. The landscape is littered with evidence of this era long past, and you should plan to take the time to explore the area for more than just the hidden cache.

There are two main routes to this location, and I would recommend traveling both. You can begin at either Brighton or Alta. The Brighton trail takes you up past Twin Lake and the Solitude Summit ski lift to Twin Lake Pass before descending slightly to the cache location. The Alta route leads northeast up Grizzly Gulch and some extensive mine ruins. Both trails are well-traveled and extremely scenic and are worth whatever time you choose to invest. However, regardless of how you approach this cache, I recommend making the minimal additional effort to climb to Twin Lake Pass. It offers a gorgeous view of the lake and the upper portion of Big Cottonwood Canyon.

The prizes are somewhat above average, so please bring something comparable to trade. Thank you, and have a nice trip.
