Got a dirt bike, ATV, dune buggy, Rhino, 4 wheeler? Wanna play in the dirt? Come to Jawbone!
If you're just cruising the 14 to the 395 or vice versa, here's a wide spot on the side of the road to cache, grab a snack at the store or buy fuel.
For many years we have enjoyed the Mojave Desert by motorcycle and quads with good friends. Some of the areas from Kelso Valley to the Rand Mountains are so cool. As you ride, you may find places where there are some kind of remnants from the past, a mine, cabin even a foundation. (See a nearby cache "Foundation of Garlock" GCYE70).
As you kick around the area you can usually find some clues as to what happened in that area. There is so much history in this area, so many ruins, and so many abandoned mines in this area. As we stop and look someone will usually ask “I wonder what happened here and when”. And the more questions you ask the more different answers you hear.
We know a lot of good people who support our deserts...you should know them too (visit link)
