Geocache Description:

Back in May 2000, Dave Ulmer hid the world’s first geocache just outside of Estacada, Oregon. Seven years later (in 2007), this cache was hidden on the property of Pierce Cedar Creek Institute in southwest Michigan, when the property was comprised of 660 acres. Since then Pierce Cedar Creek Institute’s property has increased to more than 850 acres, and this cache has survived 15+ years!

Pierce Cedar Creek Institute provides visitors with a unique exposure to a rare blend of diverse habitats including wetlands, forests, marshes, streams, lakes, and prairies. Hiking trails are open to walking/hiking every day from dawn to dusk. The Visitor Center is open Monday through Friday 9 am – 5 pm. Please use existing trail system in your exploration. These hiking trails are closed during hunting season from November 15-December 1 every year. There will be signs that say "Stay off Trails due to Hunting" during this time period. This cache is a small box. The cache includes a log book, pencil, and small nature-related items.
