Geocache Description:

A DECON container located about thirty feet from the Wedington Trail in the Wedington Unit of the Ozark National Forest.

This is a cache designed to highlight the plight of the Ozark Chinquapin tree which has been nearly wiped out by a blight which occured during the nineteen fifties. The cache is located near the carcass of an Ozark Chinquapin. The trunks of these trees repel insects so their gnarly remains still can be found where they once were prized for their tasty nuts enclosed in prickly burs.

Permission for this cache has been given by:

Boston Mountain & Mt. Magazine Ranger Districts
1803 N. 18th Street
Ozark, AR 72949

The permit number is: 0810 BM 2007-03

The three page permit form can be printed from the Download section of the Arkansas Geocaching website.

Small trade items as well as three Trackables and an Indian Head Penny are initial items in the cache.

Parking is the same parking as for "North Twin" and "South Twin" where the Wedington Trail intersects a Forest Service Road. "Among Fallen Giants" and "Where the Wedington Trail Meets the Illinois River" caches can be reached by following this road to it's end near the Illinois River.

SUV2003 is FTF. Congratulations!
