Geocache Description:

At Lums Pond State Park. THIS IS ONE OF DELAWARE'S TEN OLDEST.CACHES Located just off Swamp Forest (Yellow) Trail Must use this trail

(I do not change or modify adopted caches, letting them stay in their initial form, but this cache needed substantial modification)

The origional recommend parking was by the boat ramp entrance off of Route 71, and for a greater challenge you could park at the main entrance parking lots. Things have changed and there is nice new parking area much closer at the dog training/Hayride area, reached from Buck Jersey Road. Its easy to pick up the hiking trail which passes by the parking lot. STAY ON THE TRAILS--DO NOT BUSHWHACK. Its not needed and you will just run into bad sticker. Make sure you take the yellow Swamp Forest Trail. bushes.

State park fees are in effect March through November at $3 per Delaware car, more for out of state cars. Consider an annual park pass--its a great bargain.

The origional ammo can was chained to the base of a small tree, behind a small copse of trees in the field. That was in 2001 and the field has been overgrown with invasive plants, mostly the dreded multi-flora rose. A new hiking trail was cut through the "jungle" that pased right next to the cache site. The exposed cache was removed due to park policy at the time. The origional cache location has been retained but the hide has changed. The small tree is now 10" in diameter and only way there is on the trail

Park approval was granted after a site visit by a very co-operative Park Superintendent and Head Ranger who accompanied Wahkegan and myself as we re-estabilished the initial cache site.

UPDATE SEPT 2017 rea has changed greatly and trail has been widened and many invasive trees removed, so hide location had to be moved.
