This beautiful local park needs a cache! The park contains a memorial garden, the community cenotaph and plaques honouring noted Miltonians of the past, among other things. Because I have lost count of the number of cache containers muggled away (at least 6), let's take a different approach, shall we? (see hint info)
This stretch of land was used from the late 18th Century until the 1950s as a place for storing timber and lumber from the numerous sawmills that sprung up along this area of the river to take advantage of cheap power, originally in the form of waterwheels and wooden turbines. The land was composed of mostly wood chips and sawdust, and in recent years was in danger of rotting away and washing back down the river, but for the hard work of one man, very shy of publicity, whose name is remembered in a plaque on the Park grounds. Here you will find plaques honouring Author Margaret Marshall Saunders - born in Milton, Folk Artist Ralph Boutilier, the Cenotaph Honouring Milton's War Dead and a recently added bench remembering an old friend. Soon to be home to a cannon recovered from a ship that sank in the 1850's within sight of this land!
