Between The Pirates and The Parrots
(aka Thanks)
Driving this route each day I would occasionally stop and enjoy the views from the Information boards – but never had the time to do a walk. Discovering caching, I kept thinking I must put a cache here, and then suddenly quite a few appeared.
This cache is a thankyou, to allow SA_ParrotHead to now enjoy a search in the wetlands for a cache.

This area of the wetlands does not dry out, so on your walk you should see plenty of waterbirds.

There always is quite a gathering of Swans on the Northern side of the highway.

You may also be lucky enough to see fish from the bridges, but unfortunately no fishing is allowed.
At the given coordinates, an Information board provides some facts about the area, including how many hectares it covers. This number is used to locate the second waypoint thus:
S 34°50.(172 minus Number of Hectares)
E138°34.(155 plus Number of Hectares)
The Information board also provides a map of the walking trails (you may like to take note, especially the lookouts ;)), and wildlife that inhabits the area.
From the Information board there is a path one can follow, and staying on the paths (not entering the carpark), one can get to the other waypoint locations and final cache location.
At the next waypoint, the final cache location can be found by projecting a point 120m at a bearing of 337.5947 degrees.
In between the waypoints and the cache you'll find a tunnel to walk through if you stay on the paths.
If for any reason you need to cross over the highway, rather than under, please take care, as it can be quite busy, with many trucks cruising along it.
Cache is a fruit container, covered in black, containing a log, pen and some swaps.
Cheers
