HOT WATER Traditional Cache
CragSeeker: It's gone, for the second time, in 10 years. Spent time looking for a better location or using the last location...nothing seemed viable. A little to far to keep maintaining this one too. So, area is now open for someone's micro cache.
Enjoy,

Nice cache in beautiful forests near a natural hot spring. CAREFUL, people sometimes soak the natural way.Temperature at the spring's outlet (see the bubbles) is 108 degrees.
DIRECTIONS: From Hwy 20,between Hwy marker 82 and 83, take Baker Lake Road.Stay on road to just over the Boulder Creek Bridge, then veer left onto FS Road #1130.At the "Y",veer right, and at next "Y",veer right.Follow down to parking area.Take the obvious trail headed up into the woods, follow trail to where GPS marks at a log beside trail. Cache is a square plastic container, covered with a slab of Moss. It's filled with stuff for all ages to enjoy.ADDITIONAL INFO:I contacted the Park Service and found out that the water tested high for Fecal coliform bacteria (not E-Coli) and never exceeded state safety levels. About the year 2000, the forest service destroyed the site to discourage squatters and to avoid possible lawsuits,in the event someone may have gotten sick(I've never heard of anyone getting sick from usage of a hot spring). The Park Service does not promote the Spring, has removed signs, and map locators. OTHER NOTE: One of Whatcom Counties popular swim areas gets closed occasionally when FECAL COLIFORM levels exceed state safety levels...then re-opens when it drops to safe levels. Nobody has reported getting sick at the local swim site either. Even though Chlorine is used in Hot Tubs, Fecal Coliform can be high there also. My recommendation: Hot Springs are used for SOAKING. So,use at your own risk and 'DO NOT DRINK THE WATER'. CS
