Geocache Description:

The Desert Camp Conservation Park is located between Padthaway and Willalooka along a section of the Naracoorte Range. The park has an abundance of wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies, echidna and various species of bright, colourful birds. The park is also known for its hook shaped grass tree stems. They are usually straight but have some weird curves here.

The park contains a disused quarry that was once a source of grey-green granite. Some of the granite from here can be found on the floor of the international wing of Melbourne's Tullamarine Airport.

The cache is hidden amongst the rocks in the old quarry. Access is easy with a 4WD and should be quite within the limits of a 2WD with care. Spend some time looking around the rocks... you just never know what you might find! Please make sure that the cache is well hidden from view before you leave.

There is a track that follows the boundary of the park. This is 4WD only and is easy but good fun. The views from the top of the boundary track can be spectacular on a clear day.

There is room to camp in several parts of the park. The ground is generally stony, but with a camper trailer, would make an excellent, private place to spend the night.

We hope you enjoy the Desert Camp Conservation Park.
