This all season micro is located near Gander International Airport.
The airport’s beginning dates back to June of 1936 when construction of the airport began. By the end of 1937, a 900 person team was working on the project. A few years later the airport had four paved runways, making Gander the largest runway in the world. On January 11, 1938 Captain Douglas Fraser flew a single-engine biplane to the first landing at the completed “Newfoundland Airport”.
During the 9-11 crisis in 2001, 39 aircraft and some 6500 people landed at Gander airport when airspace over the United Stated was closed.
Make sure to bring your own pen/pencil.
