Geocache Description:

The location and terrain of this cache is easily accessible by vehicle or bike. The roadway is part of a very nice bicycle route that is located in the Manitowish Waters Area. From this location you will observe wonderful views of nature, including picturesque wilderness areas, and abundance of waterfowl viewing. You will also have the opportunity to hike the surrounding area, if you choose.

This cache is located very close to the parking area, and can require very little walking if you choose to go directly to the cache location. If you enjoy a bit more hiking, an alternate route will allow you to enjoy walking a well maintained diked trail for approx 1-2 miles from an alternate parking lot. You may park at N46.05.829 W89.55.967 and follow the graveled road and your GPS for appox 2 miles. If you prefer a shorter hike, you can drive approx 1 mile closer and park at N46.05.213 W89.55.213. You may stay on the trail to the final destination, there is no need to walk into the swamps, unless of course you prefer, the trail will take you there if you stay on it.

These alternate hikes are not available from Sept 1 to December 1 to protect the wildlife from hunting and other disturbances during this timeframe. Signs are posted that notify you of the trail closures, However the cache is still avaialble from the primary parking location during this time.

Watch out for moogles, all though it appears desolate it can become very popular stop for others.

This cache is located on Northern Highlands State Forest lands.

The Geocache Notification Form has been submitted to of the Wisconsin DNR. Geocaches placed on Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource managed lands require permission by means of a notification form.
