Geocache Description:

A short, easy multicache on the east side of Priest Lake.

Soldier Creek

Soldier Creek is a beautiful, peaceful stream that descends from the shoulders of Sundance Mountain to Priest Lake. It is so named for a garrison of soldiers that was stationed near its mouth around the turn of the 20th century. Sherwood Beach near where the creek empties into the lake is named for the commander of that garrison.

You can drive to within a few yards of this cache from the north or within a couple hundred feet from the south, or enjoy a stroll from the town of Coolin.

When you arrive at the posted coordinates above, you will find yourself in the middle of a steel footbridge over Soldier Creek. There is a memorial plaque secured between the two seats mounted on the west side of the bridge that was originally used to calculate the final coordinates, but when it was removed at one point the method was changed to the following: project a waypoint from the posted coordinates using the following criteria:

Distance:  116 feet
Bearing:  6° true

(That's 116 feet at 6 degrees true bearing in case your GPS is unable to parse the above info.)

Enjoy!
