We started geocaching to get the family out of the house. We
like caches of all types, yet the caches that get a “thumbs
up!” from all the members of our team are the caches that
take us to new trails and out of the way places we would not have
visited before geocaching. Before geocaching, our team had visited
Calvert Cliffs State Park, but we had hiked only the Red Trail.
After geocaching, our team discovered the “backside” of
this park. Some of our first finds were found while hiking the
lesser-known trails of Calvert Cliffs.
This cache replaces a cache that was unmaintained and went MIA.
We did not want the park to lose a geocache! This cache is park
approved and located just off the Orange Trail. The trailhead and
closest parking is accessed from the hunters’ parking area at
Camp Canoy Road across Route 765 from the dentists’ office.
Follow your GPS from there! Hunting is allowed in this area of the
park; please use CAUTION. Check the hunter’s sign-in and wear
blaze orange during the fall deer season.
The cache is a small, square, clear, Lock & Lock style
container. The cache is too small to fit a lot of items, so trade
as you see fit!
