Geocache Description:

We're getting closer! August 17-19, at the Martin Meadows Campground near Silver Lake, the MotherLode MuggleBusters will host the first of what will hopefully become an annual or semi-annual camping event.

Martin Meadows Campground is an overflow campground so no cost to users (please note the above picture was not taken from the campground). The turn off of Hwy 88 is N38 41.769 W120 07.278, if you are headed up the hill (NE), it will be a left turn, then another left into the campground. We will try and occupy several campsites around N38 41.767 W120 07.390, where there is a nice fire ring and picnic table. The campground does not have RV hookups but does offer well-maintained pit toilets. Bring your own water. As of July 28, there are fire restrictions due to the Angora Fire. This could change between now and then, but likely will not.

We invite you to come for any or all the days listed. Tentative schedule:(subject to change without notice)

Friday
* sister event: Flingin' S'mores and Haunted Stories a'la TRAKD

Saturday
1:00pm: Campground cache and dash
4:00pm: an informative lecture by Scoobert on map and compass reading - pls see www.MuggleBusters.com/maptalk.html for more details
5:30pm: "Practical Application" workshop organized by Hubach, to apply what you learned in the lecture
7:00pm: chili cookoff / pot luck dinner
Please note: MotherLoad MuggleBuster's will provide salad and bread - feel free to bring other dishes to share!
8:00pm: 50/50 drawing and regular raffle

Throughout the weekend we will also have coordinated carpools to nearby caching / hiking areas (and there's a bunch of good ones - just click the link!). We also plan to have some new caches that will be published right before the event. All different difficulty levels.

Check the MuggleBusters.com website for a PDF download of the area trailhead destinations. There will also be a cache and dash event on Saturday afternoon. Several temporary caches will be hidden in and around the campground, the objective is to find as many as possible and mark your scorecard. Winner gets a cool prize!

Please let us know if you intend to bring an RV, tent camp, or just care to day-trip. Please plan to pack out your trash, and we will also have a clean-up committee on Sunday.

Keep checking back here for more details as they develop.
