The Muscatatuck is located in central Jennings County Indiana. It is clearly marked and ample parking is available. The area is labeled as an "extreme sports area" with rock climbing, hiking and mountain biking trails.
The Muscatatuck County Park in central Jennings County is home to lots of geological wonders. Most of this area is covered by drift and debris from the Illinois age glaciers. The bedrock in the area is primarily Devonian era dolomite limestone. Limestone of this era was formed approximately 350 million years ago, when Indiana was actually under the sea. In the Vinegar Mill area of the park, the limestone was quarried in the mid-1800’s, leaving lots of exposed stone for fossil hunters to explore. In the exposed limestone, the are literally thousands of species of fossils.
The Muscatatuck River flows along the south edge of the park. The historical town of Vernon was founded along "The Stream of Many Turns" about 1812 and the area has been studied geologically since then. Other geologically significances in the park are several waterfalls along the river, a natural spring fed waterfall, and several caves (although they are too restricting for human access)
There is a large exposed fossil down the trail below the Vinegar Mill Shelter. It can be found at N38* 59.194 W085*37.164
To log this earthcache, you may either:

or,
