Located on Rge Rd 193, south of Hwy 45.
This is the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church (Star-Peno). This church was the result of the first Ukrainian Catholic Parish in Alberta which was formed on May 2, 1897. The original church constructed in 1911 burned down on Holy Thursday in 1922. Construction of the present cruciform church was completed in 1927. According to the County of Lamont website, "the interior painting was done in 1930 by Peter Lipinski and remains in its original form to this day". We were not fortunate enough to see the interior of the church. However, Lamont County does an 'Open Doors' church tour in the beginning of June. This would be an excellent opportunity to view the interiors of these lovely churches, but perhaps not the best time to do any caches due to the muggles.
