Geocache Description:

Interesting Historic site and Conservation Area
.

While driving along Highway #26 we often passed this area and thought it might make a great cache site. It has history, nice picnic area and canoe launching or retreaval from the Nottawasaga River. Out seeking other caches so made the decision to place one for others to share what we find as a nice spot for taking a break. Glengarry Landing has history. At the forks of the Nottawasaga River, Lt-Col. Robert Mc Douall, Glengarry Light Infantry, built the flotilla of boats with which he effected the relief of the British garrison at Fort Michilimackinac, in May 1814. He then organized a second expedition which, on the 19th of July, captured Prairie du Chien, on the Mississippi. The cache is a fairly large black cammo covered screw top container that contained when placed a log book and pencil, tape measure, leather bracelet, mosquito head gear, Winnie the Pooh purse and a moo noise maker key chain.
