Geocache Description:

Small cache hidden in the Roding Valley Nature Reserve ( http://www.essexwt.org.uk/sites/Roding%20Valley%20Meadows.htm ) which is on the site of the old RAF Chigwell – you can still find evidence of taxi ways etc.

This site is a SSSI so please treat it with respect. This cache has been placed with the explicit permission of the Warden.

This site is a little sentimental for me as I went to what was originally Buckhurst Hill County High School (  http://www.bhchs.co.uk ) which is located nearby.

I remember arriving in 1972 (oh, so long ago now) and looking out of the window at what was then a field and thinking “I’ll watch how that changes over the seasons”. The first year was fine I saw the farmer ploughing the field and scattering the good seed on the land so to speak.  The next year was a little different when the earth movers arrived to create the cutting for the M11!

Park adjacent to the David Lloyd Sports Centre  at N 51 37.748 E 00 03.870 (way point below). The cache is hidden in the raised section which is a little steep for a buggy but good surface otherwise – that is why I’ve set the terrain rating more than one.

You are looking for a small (0.25l) circular clip lock plastic box with a green Geocaching sticker on it.  It will accept small swaps and TBs / coins.

A few little goodies in there to start with including a little owl necklace.

I had 25’ accuracy reported by the GPS when O and I set this cache.

167 bus stops by the school. Nearest tube stations Buckhurst Hill and Chigwell. There are a number of other caches nearby.

The M11 is adjacent, but completely fenced off, there is *no* access what so ever from the motorway to the cache site – don’t even think about stopping!
