(The original intention was to place a cache at High Curley, but as this location is less than 0.1 miles from another cache (Loony Lightwater Lookers), this was not permitted).
Lightwater Country Park is situated at the edge of Lightwater village and covers an area of 59 hectares. It is part of the once vast Bagshot Heath, which stretched to Bracknell and Windsor. Although the Country Park is mainly heathland habitat, it also has ponds, woodland, meadows, scrub and lowland bog, which all provide a wide variety of wildlife, birds, mammals, plants and insects. There is a nature trail and a heathland trail, which both pass by this car park. High Curley is 129 metres above sea level and is the highest point in the park, offering views of the surrounding countryside, including the London skyline, Ascot racecourse, Woking, Guildford cathedral and the North Downs.
