A Novel Getaway 3rd Edition Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

bob8bear: Checked on the ammo can, which is indeed missing, and can’t believe how an area can change. That dusty trail of a few footprints is now part of a major trail system extending well beyond the cache location. We had a good run here, but it is time to say Good Bye! Thanks for visiting.

Geocache Description:

A "Book Exchange" cache located at a scenic overlook in the hills North of Santa Fe. Trade items are limited to books. (Travel Bug and Geocoins are welcome too!)

CatWoman loves to read and always has a book or two going. Fiction, non-fiction, she loves it all and wants to encourage others to read too! It's one of her favorite mental "getaways"!

The largest book that will fit in the cache is 8" by 11". Please remove the book you choose from the ziplock bag and place your exchange book in the empty bag.

Suggested directions: This is an ideal location for perhaps the best sunset views in the area. We recommend you wait to do this cache until you can plan to drive from downtown Santa Fe about 30 minutes before sunset. (Don't forget to bring your camera.) The drive along Bishop Lodge Road is one of the most scenic and soothing drives in Santa Fe.

Take the Bishop Lodge Road, through the village of Tesuque (go past the post office) and turn right onto NM highway 592. Continue on this paved road until the stop sign. Go straight ahead and the road becomes CR76 / FR102, which is dirt. Continue for 1.6 miles and pull off just before the Upper Pacheco Canyon wood sign. This is a total of 12 miles and 22 minutes from the plaza.

The cache is just a short hike on the faint dirt trail up the hill to the Southeast of the parking area (This is why the terrain rating is so high.)
