I Found my Thrill... Traditional Cache

ExFS: Sorry folks, I'm going to archive this cache. Some "campers" decided this spot was a good place to camp. They cleared a campsite, built a large fire ring and used a portion of the old ski tow building as firewood. In the process, they destroyed the hiding spot for the cache.
Watch for a "reborn" cache in a nearby location.

Geocache Description:


Welcome to Blueberry Hill, aka Hogback Mountain, site of the old Blueberry Hill alpine ski area. This was one of the locally owned and operated ski areas that existed in Vermont in the 40's, 50's and 60's. See (visit link) for more information about these "lost" ski areas. Unfortunately, they don't have the information on Blueberry Hill! It is now part of the Moosalamoo National Recreation Area (NRA) in the Green Mountain National Forest (GMNF). Because of the historic nature of this area, please don't disturb any of the artifacts you may encounter.

If you come in mid-July, bring a container and help yourselves to the blueberries. This part of the GMNF is managed for non-commercial blueberry picking by the public. A portion of the area is burned each year to promote new growth and brush is cut to open the bushes to sunlight.

No need to bushwack. There is a well defined path for about half the distance, then a non-maintained trail the rest of the way. The cache will be difficult in the winter and should be attempted by experienced snowshoers or advanced cross-country skiers.
