Dunmere Trek II Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

RodentNoir: This series has had very few finds in recent years, so after nearly 11 years in situ it's time to retire them and free up the area for fresh caches.

I must admit it was with more than a little sadness that I went out today and collected in the caches. Where has that 11 years gone?! :/

Geocache Description:

It is hidden in Dunmere Wood, to the west of Bodmin. It's on the western bank of the river Camel. That's the opposite side of the river from the Camel Trail. It is accessed via forestry paths.

You are looking for a small (400ml) screw top container with space for small Travel Bugs.

*Please ensure that you conceal the cache properly before you leave*

It is one of three related caches within Dunmere Wood. One of them is a bonus cache requiring you to visit the other two to obtain the coordinates.

The three caches are:
GC13B0V - Dunmere Trek I
GC13B17 - Dunmere Trek II (this cache)
GC13B1P - Dunmere Trek Bonus

Steep terrain and tree cover will make GPS reception patchy, especially in the summer when the tree canopy is dense. I suggest you go armed with the spoiler photos and the hint, just in case your GPS doesn't let you see the wood for the trees!

Dunmere Wood is forestry land, and access rights may change depending on what forestry activities are going on at the time. Please respect all signs and directions.

There are two places where you may be able to park (waypoints for 'Dunmere Trek I). Both are gated entrances, and are not necessarily designed with parking in mind. Parking is therefore limited. If you park at these locations please be careful not to obstruct access, and do leave space for others where possible.

There is a network of tracks and paths in the wood, which vary in nature from steep and muddy with significant steps, to well made cinder roads with shallow slopes. You can make your journey as easy or as demanding as you want!

There are some steep drops at the south-east of the wood, so keep an eye on the junior cachers. The area is popular with dog walkers, so geo-pooches are welcome.
