Geocache Description:

The Published Co-Ords is at the Parking Area
Ilanda Wilds Nature Reserve

There is plenty birdlife with over 100 species recorded so far. Vegetation is coastal forest and thornveld with a rich variety of coastal forest trees, including the rare natal elm.

There is three trails; Loerie, Mpiti and the Mongoose. The mongoose trail bypasses a stone feature placque, close to the park area, which commemorates king Chaka’s resting place.

The name “Amanzimtoti” means “sweetwaters” and is generally attributed to King Shaka’s campaigns, he and his army stopped to rest here. He was brought a calabash filled with water from the local river and once he sipped the water, he said “Kanti Amamz’amtoti” meaning the water is sweet.

Let us treat this as a CITO cache. (Cache In Trash Out) That means it would be greatly appreciated if you could pick up some of the trash along the way while looking for this cache. It would be a good idea to bring your own trash bag along. Unfortunately people seem to have no respect for the environment surrounding the river whatsoever.

Let your fingers do the final caching Co-Ords
