DAD'S APPLES Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Skookum Bear: As the cache owner has not indicated that they have visited the cache location to replace it if it was missing, perform needed maintenance, or verify that it is still there within a reasonable amount of time, I am regretfully archiving the cache to clear it from the active cache database and open the area to new caching opportunities. If the cache owner would like to replace a cache at this location, please submit a new geocache listing and it will be reviewed under the current Geocaching guidelines.

Please do not respond to this note by sending an email reply - your response will go to an unmonitored location and disappear into the ether instead of being sent to me. If you need to contact me regarding this cache, please do so using the link on my Profile Page

Geocache Description:

Originally, a very full cache with something from all six kids. A small container that is well camoe'd. Room for tradable if you like. Be aware that there is another container reported being found without a lid - this is not the cache. Keep looking.

We are placing this cache to celebrate our Dad's 90th birthday. Every year he cored, peeled, sliced and dehydrated hundreds of pounds of apples. He happily shared them with anyone who would like a taste but his cohorts at the senior's drop in centre really appreciated them on Bridge night.
Born June 4, 1917, he survived the Great Depression, The Second World War, and raising six kids, who all turned out to be pretty good apples themselves. A good father. A good provider. A good husband to 3 wonderful women. A good man. Happy Birthday, Daddeo.

A sad but not tragic day, as my brother said, Daddeo passed away December 22, 2009 not far from here. He lived a big life. His 'apples' miss him.
*UPDATE*
2017 is the 100th anniversary of our parents birth prompting a major family reunion. This is a rededication of my Dad's Apples cache. Observe the new photos of the Apples and others who have not fallen far from the tree. An amazing weekend of love and shared and treasured memories.
