From the car park cross two swing bridges. Check out the gold mining relics on the way. A torch will be useful. The recent addition of display boards has made this area so much more interesting. Imagine what it was like in those days with a pick and shovel.
You are looking for a 1 litre sistema box containing a number of swaps, log book and pencil. DOC has done an excellent job upgrading the tracks to access the old mining sites. This has resulted in a huge increase in visitor numbers so you may have to wait for an opportunity to get to the cache.
20 January 2010. Some have had difficulty finding this cache. As we want it to be an easy find because the main reason is to get you in there to enjoy the place, so here are some further hints. GPS reception varies in that deep ravine. Whether you go through the tunnels or round the river you will come to the steps leading down to the river walk from the last tunnel. The given coords are meant to have you there at the bottom of the steps. Go up to the third landing, the cache is under the deck on the side away from the river. Reach down while standing on the deck.
