This is one of a series of caches that I have placed along a walk
that Miranda (the dog-in-law) and I take at least once a week. This
is a well marked series of trails located at the north end of the
Chuckanuts. It is best to park at the North Chuckanut Trailhead
along Chuckanut Drive. Follow the signs to the Hemlock trail. You
can download a map of this trail system from the Whatcom County
Parks website
http://www.co.whatcom.wa.us/parks/trails/chuckanut.jsp Make no
mistake, this does have uphill hiking, however, not as steep of an
incline as Pine and Cedar. You can approach this hide from a couple
of different ways. One way is from the Pine and Cedar trail but my
preferred route is along the Hemlock Trail. The distance from the
N. Chuckanut trailhead parking to Raptor Ridge is about 4.5 miles.
Along the way, once you have taken the cutoff to Raptor Ridge, stop
and take note of the large, impressive rock formations as you pass
them on the way to this cache. Once you arrive at the viewpoint,
catch your breath and take in the incredible view of the
surrounding hills. Relax on the rock and then go get this cache!
This cache is well stocked with exciting trade items including a 20
LED flashlight for first to find. If you are doing the others in
this series please only one flashlight per finder. You are looking
for a large lock-n-lock.
