Geocache Description:


This is one of a series of caches that I have placed along a walk that Miranda (the dog-in-law) and I take at least once a week. This is a well marked series of trails located at the north end of the Chuckanuts. It is best to park at the North Chuckanut Trailhead along Chuckanut Drive. Follow the signs to the Hemlock trail. You can download a map of this trail system from the Whatcom County Parks website (visit link)
Make no mistake, this does have uphill hiking, however, not as steep of an incline as Pine and Cedar. The distance from the N. Chuckanut trailhead parking depends on your approach. You can come up the Hemlock and over the Salal to the Chuckanut Ridge trail or you can come up the North Lost Lake trail to the Chuckanut Ridge split. Once at the trail marker post, follow the trail up through the large boulders on the Chuckanut Ridge trail. You will see a sign for Dan's Traverse, the alternative name for the trail. Immediately after the Dan's sign, there is an offshoot trail to the right. DON'T take this, rather stay on the main trail heading up (just a little further). This cache is well stocked with exciting trade items including a 20 LED flashlight for first to find. If you are doing the others in this series please only one flashlight per finder. You are looking for a large lock-n-lock.
