Geocache Description:

Steep terrain which can be slippery and may require some use of hands both ways. Poison oak may be present but is avoidable.

From Morganton, drive up hwy 181 N. to waypoint N 35 51.509 W 081 47.092 and turn left on Simpson Creek Ave. Go .3 miles to waypoint N 35 51.402 W 081 47.397 and turn right at the sign pointing to Table Rock. Proceed 2.7 miles to waypoint N 35 52.225 W 081 49.015 and park there. The cache is about 260' from the parking waypoint. It is a cammo ammo box which I acquired at the silent auction at GeoWoodstock 5. Be careful with the steep and potentially slippery terrain. The vegetation is moderate mountain woodsy. Please take care to hide the cache as you find it and cover your tracks on the way out. The original contents include a Jeep Travel Bug, flashlight, Maze puzzle, tricky triangle puzzle, Boomo card game, zippered tote bag, boot laces, water pistol, sunglasses, thread, tape measure, camera, calculator, carabiners, air freshener, army tank toy, Panthers key chain, Lions pog slammer. After finding or DNFing, you may want to proceed about 10 more miles up the road to the Table Rock Mountain parking and picnic area. They have bathroom facilities. There are hiking trails with spectacular views. One trail is a 1 mile hike to the top of Table Rock Mtn. If you go leisurely even a small child can make this hike. The more adventurous may want to hike deeper in and find a couple of the other caches nearby. Have fun and happy huntin'!
