The Brain Baffler Series
The Brain Baffler Series consists of puzzles, riddles, and
codes that must be solved before finding the correct coordinates.
Repeat: The Cache is NOT at the above listed coordinates.
This series is meant to make us think hard, make our brains use a
little more ATP, and, of course, make us all have a little more fun
in life. We hope you enjoy finding them as much as we have enjoyed
hiding them. If a cache is rated harder than it seems or,
hopefully, easier than it seems, please let us know. Happy
Hunting…

To Find the Coordinates, think of music.
That is the name of this game.
Like the evergreens, ivy is also seen as a symbol used in
Christmas decoration, along with the holly and mistletoe. And,
although it’s June, why not place a cache that has something
slightly to due with the merriness of December’s commercial bonanza
six months early?
Listed below are new “translations” of familiar Christmas songs.
In order to find the correct coordinates, decipher the name of the
song mentioned in each step. The answer for that letter will then
be the number of words in the original title. For instance: if
letter Z was “This Biblical character, in the past, claimed to be a
large, aquatic member of the Ranidae family,” the correct song
would then be “Jeremiah was a Bullfrog,” and the answer to Z would
equal four (4.) Make sense? Great. One is done below for you.
Also, all song translations will be in English. Therefore, if the
title of a carol is known in different languages, English is the
one you want to go with. Also, the entire carol title is counted.
Therefore, if there is an "O," like "O Christmas Tree," the "O"
counts as a word as well. And, to make it a bit less confusing, if
the title contains "O," then it will be in the untranslated version
below.
Finally, there will be math equations requiring you to plug in
the numbers achieved in order to attain the final coordinates.
Don’t worry. Nothing more than
addition/subtraction/multiplication/division. Calculus will come at
a later cache.

Enjoy.

Plug in and do math where necessary. Remember the basic rules of
Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally, which is a pneumonic for
Parentheses; Exponents; Multiplication; Division; Addition;
Subtraction. Do all math problems in this order. For example. (4 x
2) / 2 means multiply 4 by 2 FIRST then divide that answer in the
parentheses by 2. Which equals (8) / 2 = 4. Any questions? Email me
if so. Pretty explanatory though. There are Seven (7) digits in the
North coordinate and Eight (8) in the West Coordinate.
North:
((A + B) – C) - 1 = _____
(B x L) / V = _____
(D x E) – 10 = _____
F + H = _____
(I x H) / J = _____
G x T = _____
(U/V) + 6 =_____
N _ _ degrees _ _. _ _ _
West:
K – (P +1) = _____
N + Q = _____
O +P + R – B = _____
W – 1 = _____
Q + R – C + B = _____
R = _____
S – W = _____
M – O - J =_____
W _ _ _ degrees _ _ . _ _ _
