Geocache Description:

This traditional cache is hidden in a (almost) pristine part of the Stony Brook University Campus. It is an easy walk from the "South P" parking lot, followed by some light bushwhacking.

This cache is a tribute to the University and the Department from which I have received my degree in 2006. The coordinates will bring into an area which features a phenomenon common to Long Island: glacial erratics. These boulders were carried here by the glacier from the north about 20000 years ago. Wikipedia has a nice write-up which I highly recommend reading. I would like it very much if you learned something new while searching for this cache. Of course, it is not required. Now the cache itself. You are looking for a well-hidden camouflaged ziploc container containing a log book and some trade-able swag. As I said, the container is very well hidden so do not get frustrated if you don't find it immediately. This is NOT one of those cache-and-dash geocaches! There is no need to turn the place upside down, I would rather recommend careful examination of all possible hiding spaces. Persistence counts on this one. This place is so infrequently visited that the chances of this cache getting stolen are virtually zero (hint: safe place for travel bugs and geocoins).
