Geocache Description:

One of the most influential families in Toronto's history is the Gooderham family. They came to Canada in 1831 and soon went from owning a mill where the Don River meets Lake Ontario, to building a distillery with James Worts, forming the Gooderham and Worts Distillery. James Worts died, leaving George Gooderham to run the business. He became the wealthiest man in Ontario and you can still see how he spent some of that wealth. He built the gorgeous Victoria University at the University of Toronto, the Annex Mansion at Bloor and St. George St., Little Trinity Church, the oldest church in Toronto with its original building, the famous Flatiron Building at Front and Wellington often used in photos of Toronto, Connaught Laboratories, which were able to produce the first polio vaccine, and he bought the Toronto-Nipissing Railroad.

The Distillery District has recently grown out of a collection of buildings that formed the Gooderham and Worts Distillery, and it's now filled with some very swanky restaurants and bars, artist studios, galleries (the Sandra Ainsley Gallery is my personal favourite), coffee shops, a chocolate shop, and theatres, all in the original extraordinary buildings. It also plays host to events such as the Blues Festival, the Art of Jazz, and several wine and beer festivals. It is truly one of the more unique places in Toronto and worth visiting.

Somewhere in all that I've hidden a nano! You can usually find parking on Mill Street, though possibly not during the weekend or a special event. I hope you have fun looking for it and can take some time to enjoy the area.
